SBU Graduate Education courses are delivered online, face-to-face, or a combination of the two (hybrid). Some degrees are even offered completely online.
Fall and spring semesters have two 8-week terms, making it easy to take two classes each term. During the summer semester, June and July terms are four weeks each.

You can choose to level through the Graduate Education degree programs. If your highest degree is a Master of Science, you will need to complete all three steps to achieve an Ed.D. through leveling. If your highest degree is a Master of Science in Educational Administration, you will need to complete the last two steps to achieve an Ed.D. through leveling.

Non-degree seeking students can take elective courses in Graduate Education at Southwest Baptist University. This is a great option for teachers looking for continuing education credits and professional development opportunities.

Once you've found a degree program that interests you, fill out our online application. Then, send us a copy of your transcripts and test scores to help expedite the process. Use the links below to apply for the program of your choice.
Note: The application fee is waived for all SBU alumni!
Once you have been admitted to SBU's graduate education program and are ready to sign up for classes, submit the online Enrollment Form. You will need to know the course number, course section and course title for each course in which you wish to enroll.
Courses are typically scheduled in eight-week rotations, providing greater flexibility for students wishing to begin graduate education programs.

To receive any financial aid for which you may qualify, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). SBU's recommended deadline for submitting the FAFSA is March 15. If you have questions about financial aid for graduate students, please call (417) 328-1822.
After enrolling in courses, you may purchase any needed textbooks online through the SBU Bookstore. Use the course numbers to look up which books are required for each course.
The Master of Science in Education degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Technology Leadership, and Teacher Leadership are all 100% online.
The Master of Science in Education degree in Athletic/Activity Administration is mostly online with the exception of a class in the summer terms. Students may attend this class face-to-face or remotely using Zoom.
