The Southwest Baptist University Speaking Bearcats opened their 2019-2020 traveling season with a pair of overall sweepstakes victories in the Missouri Mule/Dale Carnegie swing tournament on Oct. 18 and 20, and the Cowtown Classic on Oct. 25-26.
The 40th annual Festival of Christmas, sponsored by Southwest Baptist University and Community Outreach Ministries, will be presented at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, in Mabee Chapel on SBU's Bolivar campus.
About 370 students from 41 southwest Missouri elementary and middle schools gathered at Southwest Baptist University on Oct. 26 for math contests hosted by the SBU Department of Mathematics.

Allie Hickerson, a junior psychology major at the Southwest Baptist University-Mountain View campus, recently was selected for induction into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music will host a membership kick-off event for the Bolivar Community Chorus to be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6 in the Casebolt Music Center.

Southwest Baptist University will hold its Formal Convocation at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.
A book signing for Dr. Kelly Malone's new book will be held from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Southwest Baptist University Bookstore on the Bolivar campus.

Southwest Baptist University conferred 229 undergraduate and 269 graduate degrees during two ceremonies Saturday, May 18, on the Bolivar campus. Another 115 degrees were conferred Thursday, May 16 to graduates of the SBU-Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
