SBU to award honorary doctorates to Clemmons, Kanakis

Rev. Barbara Ruth Clemmons of Seabrook, Texas, and Lee Kanakis, of Bartlesville, Okla., will receive honorary doctorates from Southwest Baptist University during the annual Founders' Day chapel service at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, in Pike Auditorium. SBU awards honorary doctorates to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to society and to kingdom work.

SBU's Wind Symphony, University Band to perform April 19

The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music will present the Wind Symphony and the University Band in concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 19, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

Nursing classes begin in June at SBU-Salem

An associate's degree in nursing is now available through the Dr. Tracy and Debbie Dobbs Nursing Department at Southwest Baptist University's Salem campus. After a successful site visit on Friday, April 28, the first classes will be offered beginning June 5.

Campbell featured in faculty voice recital on April 12

The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music will present Dr. Andrew Campbell, professor of music, in a faculty voice recital at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 12, in the Jane A. Meyer Recital Hall.

O'Keefe, Bramwell featured in SBU senior art exhibit

Southwest Baptist University senior art students will have their work displayed May 8-12 at the Driskill Art Gallery on the Bolivar campus, in the final of three senior shows to wrap up the spring semester.

Delmont earns CNE credential

Southwest Baptist University's Nancy Delmont recently passed the National League for Nursing's certification exam to earn the credential of a Certified Nurse Educator.

SBU, Drury square off in annual CatFight Giving Challenge

Southwest Baptist University and Drury University will battle once again in the third-annual CatFight Giving Challenge, through which the universities compete to raise money for their annual funds. Last year, SBU topped Drury in the friendly contest by raising $18,955 to Drury's $13,587.50.

SBU selects Eric A. Turner as 25th president

Dr. Eric. A. Turner of Pocahontas, Ark., was unanimously selected the 25th president of Southwest Baptist University on July 20 in a special meeting of the SBU Board of Trustees. He will begin his duties as president-elect Monday, Aug. 6, and assume the presidency on Sept. 1.
