SBU inducts 30 into Alpha Chi Honor Society

Thirty Southwest Baptist University students were inducted into the Missouri Gamma Chapter of Alpha Chi Honor Society in April. Alpha Chi is a national college honor society that admits students from all academic disciplines. Membership is limited to the top 10 percent of an institution's juniors and seniors who have at least a 3.8 grade point average and a record that reflects academic integrity and honesty.

SBU names Homecoming queen and king candidates

Southwest Baptist University students have nominated five seniors as candidates for Homecoming Queen and five candidates for Homecoming King. These candidates have been selected by their peers, and the winning King and Queen will be announced at the homecoming football game at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.

SBU opens theatre season with "Inventing van Gogh"

The Southwest Baptist University Theatre program opens the 2017-2018 season with "Inventing van Gogh," a play written by Steven Dietz and directed by SBU student DJ Luckel. The show will be presented at 7 p.m. Sept. 21-23 in the Davis-Newport Theater on the Bolivar campus.

SBU presents Clemmons, Kanakis with honorary doctorates

Rev. Barbara Ruth Clemmons, of Seabrook, Texas, and Lee Kanakis, of Bartlesville, Okla., received Honorary Doctor degrees from Southwest Baptist University during the annual Founders' Day chapel service held Monday, March 4, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

Chamber Orchestra to present free concert Nov. 1

The Southwest Baptist University Chamber Orchestra will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Meyer Recital Hall of Casebolt Music Center on the Bolivar campus.

Director of U.S. Secret Service speaks on Constitution Day

Gen. Randolph "Tex" Alles, current director of the United States Secret Service and retired Major General of the U.S. Marine Corps, delivered the Constitution Day address during the Sept. 17 Chapel service in Pike Auditorium at Southwest Baptist University.

SBU Chorale selected to perform at music educators conference

The Chorale of Southwest Baptist University has been selected to perform at the 81st Annual Missouri Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop/Conference on Jan. 23-26, 2019 at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach.
