SBU theatre season opens Sept. 29

The Southwest Baptist University Theatre program opens the 2016-2017 season with "Six Characters in Search of an Author," a play by Luigi Pirandello and adapted by Steve Moulds. The show will be presented at 7 p.m. Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in the Davis-Newport Theater on the Bolivar campus.

Ofori-Yeboah, Clarno crowned Mr. and Miss Southwest

Sylvia Ofori-Yeboah, a social work major from Bolivar, and Dustin J. Clarno, an exercise science major from Clarkston, Mich., won the titles of Mr. and Miss Southwest at the annual pageant on Friday, March 3, at Southwest Baptist University.

SBU Enactus team captures 32nd regional championship

Southwest Baptist University's Enactus team walked away as a regional champion from their competition on April 10 in Dallas, and will move on to the national exposition, which will be held May 21-23 at the Kansas City Convention Center. It is the team's 32nd regional championship out of the past 33 competitions.

Abbott receives SBU Library award

Southwest Baptist University student Jamie Abbott of Springdale, Ark., was honored by the SBU University Libraries as the Outstanding Student Assistant of the Month for October 2016.

SBU Opera Workshop to perform "The Merry Wives of Windsor"

Southwest Baptist University's Opera Workshop will present an operatic version of William Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Windsor" at 7:30 p.m., April 21-22, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

Hopkins presents at NCTM Regional Conference

Southwest Baptist University's Dr. Kevin Hopkins, professor and chair of the SBU Department of Mathematics, presented at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Conference and Exposition on Nov. 2 in Kansas City.

Meadows presents at National Honors Council Conference

Southwest Baptist University's Dr. Jodi Meadows recently was selected as a presenter during the 53rd annual National Collegiate Honors Council conference in Boston, Mass.

SBU senior art majors to host exhibit

Southwest Baptist University senior art majors will be presenting their senior show exhibit titled "And I Thought" from Dec. 11-17 at Bolivar's Pop Up Shop (formerly the Tea Garden), 113 S. Main Ave., Bolivar.
