SBU Wind Symphony to present concert on Oct. 4

The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music will present "A Potpourri of Wind Music" at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

U.S. District Judge Harpool to speak at Constitution Day

U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool will speak at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the Joe Roberts Room of the McClelland Dining facility at Southwest Baptist University.

Inauguration for SBU President Dr. Eric A. Turner is April 26

Southwest Baptist University's Board of Trustees invites the public to the inauguration of Eric A. Turner, Ed.D., as the 25th President of SBU at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, in Mabee Chapel on the Bolivar campus. A reception will be held in the Mabee Chapel lobby after the ceremony.

Letterman to raise suicide awareness during Sept. 7 Chapel

The week of Sept. 5-11 is Suicide Awareness and Prevention Week and Southwest Baptist University welcomes Jana Letterman as she shares her story during Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in Pike Auditorium.

SBU to host guest theatre speaker

The Southwest Baptist University Theatre program will host guest speaker Dr. Henry Bial, director of the School of the Arts and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Kansas, at 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, in room 240 in the Jester Learning and Performance Center on the SBU campus.

Cybersecurity degree now offered at SBU

Southwest Baptist University will offer a bachelor of science in cybersecurity beginning Fall 2017. Cybersecurity specialists are in extremely high demand. According to Forbes, more than 200,000 cybersecurity jobs went unfilled in 2016.

Meadows' work published in E-Source publication

Southwest Baptist University's Dr. Jodi Meadows was recently published in "E-Source for College Transitions," a publication of the University of South Carolina, which is home to the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition.

SBU CIS team ranks second in Central Plains Region Programming Contest

Southwest Baptist University's top competitive programming team received a second-place ranking in Central Plains Region Programming Contest on April 6 at St. Charles Community College in Cottleville.
