Program Information

The Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of Southwest Baptist University offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program that features a combination of online courses, hybrid classes and clinical experiences, providing a quality advanced degree option for BSN graduates. This MSN program is fully accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (www.acenursing.org). As an MSN student, you will choose one of two tracks: Nursing Administration or Nursing Education.

Application and Admission Information

Prerequisites for admission to the MSN program include completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and a current RN license. To begin the process of pursuing your MSN degree, submit an application to the graduate program in nursing and any other required materials. Nurse Faculty Loan Program Information

Southwest Baptist University has received funding that will help address the area's nursing shortage by providing loan forgiveness of up to 85% during a four-year period after graduation if the student becomes a full-time nurse faculty at any accredited university in the United States. These loans are available to students enrolled full-time or part-time in the master of science in nursing education program.

Free Application for federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive any aid for which you may qualify, including the Federal Direct Grad PLUS Student Loan. SBU's recommended deadline for submitting the FAFSA is March 15 to maximize the financial aid for which you may qualify. The Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of Southwest Baptist University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Additional accreditation is provided by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (www.acenursing.org).

All classes are online. Selected classes have synchronous sessions to allow students the opportunity to interact with fellow students and faculty. Students may attend synchronous sessions face-to-face if they live locally.
Submission of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores is required only if your cumulative GPA during your BSN degree is less than a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
MSN program applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis. Students may start in the spring, summer or fall terms.
After enrolling in courses, you may purchase any needed textbooks online through the SBU Bookstore. Use the course numbers to look up which books are required for each course.
